Patrick Muldoon put his stamp on network TV in the '90s as the home-wrecking Jeff on *Saved by the Bell*, the psychopathic Richard Hart on *Melrose Place*, and boxer Austin Reed on *Days of Our Lives*. On April 19, the actor, producer, and musician died at the age of 57.

Muldoon never married, nor did he have any children, but he had been dating Miriam Rothbart, a film producer, for several years at the time of his death.

Most famously, Muldoon dated actress and *The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills* star Denise Richards, with whom he starred in Paul Verhoeven's 1997 cult classic *Starship Troopers*. Their relationship dates back even further, though.

“The thing about Denise and I is everybody thinks we met on *Starship Troopers*, but we met in acting class when she was 19 and I was 21,” the actor said on a 2025 episode of the *MisSPELLING* podcast*.* “We both don’t come from entertainment families, and our families got to know each other over the years and kind of checked in with each other on navigating the crazy stuff that we all go through.”

Richards confirmed this on a 2019 episode of *The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills* (via *Us Weekly*). “I’ve known Patrick Muldoon since I was 19 years old,” she recalled. “We call each other ‘schweet babe’ because we had nicknames on *Starship Troopers *for everyone.”**

On the *MisSPELLING* podcast, he characterized their romantic relationship as being of the "on and off" variety, emphasizing how they went on to become "tight buddies."

He even became close to the children Richards shares with her ex-husband Charlie Sheen. “I have a good relationship with both Lola and Sami,” he said. “I’ve known them since they were first born, and so I have a good relationship with both.”

Muldoon and Richards made headlines in 2025 when, during an episode of *Denise Richards & Her Wild Things* in which Richards appeared in a music video for Muldoon, Sami remarked that he might still have feelings for her mother. “He’s very flirty with her, I’m not gonna lie,” said Sami, who was 21 at the time. “I don’t want to get him in trouble, but I feel like he might still have feelings for my mom. Amid his early romantic entanglements with Richards, Muldoon also dated *Beverly Hills ,90210* star Tori Spelling. Spelling and Richards looked back on their dalliances with the actor in an episode of *Denise Richards & Her Wild Things*.

"I used to be so jealous of you because I was on and off with Pat," Richards told Spelling (via E! News). "He said he was dating you and could not see me and I was very jealous."

The pair called the actor to see how he remembered their relationships. Spelling told him she felt "validated that you said we dated," adding, "We did on my part, but I didn't think you felt that way about me."

After the call, Spelling joked, "That was life changing. Like, a man stopped seeing Denise Richards for me?! I wanted a star on the Walk of Fame, I'm fine with this."**

It turns out Richards isn't the only *Real Housewives of Beverly Hills* cast member who crossed paths with Muldoon. Lisa Rinna also admits to an affair with the actor when they were both starring on *Days of Our Lives*.

“He played my brother on* Days.*"I had a little fling with him at the same time Denise was having a little fling with him,” she confessed on a 2019 episode of the reality show.

Juliette Binoche

According to *The Irish Times*, Oscar-winning actress Juliette Binoche, star of films such as *Chocolat* (2000) and *The Return* (2024), dated Muldoon from 2003 to 2005, then again in 2014.

Neither has spoken publicly about each other, though a 2017 profile of the actress calls the relationship "significant."**
