Luke Evans may be best known for his work on screen (and on stage), but he's always been a bit of a fashion aficionado in his free time.
Style has been a throughline in his life, and the actor, 46, tells PEOPLE that he always knew that finding a larger role in the fashion space was "inevitable." That role presented itself just a few short years ago when he decided to launch his own fashion brand, BDXY.
The elevated brand — which stands for "bold" and "sexy" — officially launched in February 2024, helmed by Evans, his partner Fran Tomas and his stylist Christopher Brown. Evans admits he's fully involved in every step of the process, which has been a learning experience.
"My mom is a seamstress, so I've been brought up around sewing machines," Evans tells PEOPLE at a party his brand hosted alongside Chrome Horse Society tequila and its founder Jack Morgan. "I do have an eye to cut and design and detail and fabrics. So it was sort of inevitable that I was going to do it, at some point, for myself."

The brand took shape three years ago, when Evans says Tomas was in a position to "reset a few things" in his career. Together, they decided to "go full steam ahead" and focus on bringing BDXY to life.
The result is an "apparel and lifestyle brand with a strong focus on classic style with a contemporary twist," the website reads. The brand is Evans' "dream" come to fruition. Their focus remains on sustainability, classic silhouettes and bringing pieces to market when they feel they're ready.
Evans says he and the team also wanted people to feel good while wearing BDXY, because he doesn't believe clothes should be a point of judgment — they should simply make you happy.
"I hate the idea that I'm judged on my appearance, 'cause I feel like my identity is part of my clothing," he says, noting that his own style is "eclectic" and varied. "I used to feel very aware of it, but now I just like to [wear what I want]. I don't care what other people think."
"This is lots of work," Evans says of what the last two years in the marketplace have been like, adding that Tomas is now working full-time for the brand behind the scenes. "The fun of fashion is that it never stops, right? It's always something new. You always think of what you can do next, which is actually creatively, incredibly satisfying."
Evans' passion for his own brand is part of why he has connected so closely with Morgan, who launched Chrome Horse Society as a "COVID baby." He blended his background in fashion with his love of spirits (and horses!) to launch his new project — and he's also involved in the process from top to bottom.
"I thought, 'What can I do that'll be fun and fit into sort of everything I already do with traveling, etc.,'" he tells PEOPLE. "So it was tequila. Then I just got nerdy. I went to stay with family and friends in Guadalajara. I toured a million distilleries, picked this one, worked on the blend for almost nine months, and then we nailed it."
He brings his brand to life through epic parties — including this one he hosted with BDXY — in all corners of the world but most notably Greece, Miami and New York. He keeps the aesthetic elevated to further solidify the brand's vibe.
"I just wanted tequila for the future, 'cause I don't have any Mexican heritage, and I feel like so many of the brands lean deep into that and I can't," Morgan shares. "It's not authentic to me at all. So we're based ... in New York, then we did Florida, and then I spent the summers in Greece, and then we launched there."
Morgan calls the brand "unapologetically modern and transparent" with a focus on sustainability. "Chrome Horse Society ... stands at the intersection of logic and magic, much like the experience our tequila aims to provide. We like to say our tequila Gives You a Ride," reads the brand's website.

Morgan touts that the spirit is perfect for a skinny spicy margarita — his favorite — or an espresso martini, and Evans can't help but agree.
"I drink a lot of it," he shares.
They're both fans of the other's brands and are happy to sing the other's praises. Morgan also admits to wearing BDXY regularly because he loves the "soft fabrics" and the brand's attention to detail.
"[These brands are] our babies." Evans says.
