Bob the Drag Queen shared how he is preparing for his Broadway debut in Moulin Rouge! The Musical.

The comedian, actor, podcast host and New York Times best-selling author caught up with PEOPLE at the 2025 TikTok Awards in Los Angeles on Thursday, Dec. 18. During the conversation, he shared the specific way he is getting ready to play Harold Zidler, the larger-than-life master of ceremonies and owner of the Moulin Rouge, during his eight-week run of the show.

ā€œI've been taking vocal lessons,ā€ Bob, 39, revealed. ā€œAnd also, you know, I've seen the Broadway show a few times, but I've actually never seen the movie, so I'm waiting right before I go [on to see it]. Me and my friends are all gonna get together and finally watch the Moulin Rouge movie, like, together.ā€

He continued, ā€œI'm doing all my vocal lessons. I'm studying my script, and then I'm gonna finally sit down and watch the original movie. Shout out, shout out, shout out to [Nicole] Kidman, you know?ā€

The character of Harold Zidler was first played by actor Jim Broadbent in the 2001 movie Moulin Rouge. The role has since been played by stars like Danny Burstein, Tituss Burgess, Boy George and Wayne Brady in the stage version.

While speaking with PEOPLE at the TikTok event, Bob went on to share one of his favorite pop culture moments of 2025.

ā€œI gotta give it to the Labubu,ā€ he said. ā€œIt was such a fun moment, you know?ā€

ā€œI've always been behind every trend, and I was right on time for the first time ever. I was right on time. I was. I wasn't an unc,ā€ he continued, referring to the slang term ā€œuncle,ā€ which affectionately refers to an older man.

ā€œI was young, honey. I was fresh, honey,ā€ he added.

And as for his ā€œfavorite TikTok soundā€ of the year?

ā€œHonestly, I'm always behind the trend, so I’m still a big fan of, you know, ā€˜She's an icon, she's a legend, and she's the moment.’ … That was not new, but I'm still in love with that sound,ā€ he revealed.
